Vashon’s race for Unofficial Mayor has kicked off!
Our Unofficial Mayor race is the ultimate fun-raiser. The Vashon community can get behind their favorite candidate(s) and wonderful Vashon Chamber nonprofits benefit from a boost in awareness and investment.
Each year, a number of organizations enter a candidate in the race, hoping to maximize their total votes (donations) during the campaign period. After the parade on Strawberry Festival Saturday, the votes are counted and the official Unofficial Mayor is announced.

MEET THE CANDIDATES:
TK Rose: Blue Heron Education Center Scholarship Fund
Meet TK Rose, an 8-year-old with big moves and an even bigger heart. TK is the person most likely to get the dancing started and is a friend to everyone he meets. A dance student at VCA and arts enthusiast, TK’s candidacy supports the Blue Heron Education Center’s Scholarship Fund because, as he says, “Everyone should have the chance to dance.” Vote for TK and keep the arts accessible to all of Vashon’s youth!
Georgie: Vashon Island Midwifery
Georgie was born at home on Vashon just before midnight on New Year’s Eve 2023. Thanks to the nurturing and empowering care she and her mama received from Katelyn and her team at Vashon Island Midwifery, Georgie is a strong advocate for universal access to holistic childbirth care, milk on demand, and all Vashon babies!
Fern the Racoon: VashonBePrepared
Early in the pandemic, Fern was there to remind us to mask up and keep each other safe. She helped us get tested and vaccinated too. She encourages us to prepare our households and meet with our neighbors to increase our resilience against disasters of all kinds. She's here for us, whatever comes, and she needs your help to keep training volunteers and stocking up on supplies to help our community.
Canny: Vashon Maury Community Food Bank
Canny believes that access to nutritious food is a basic human right. The Vashon Food Bank works in partnership with the Vashon community to increase food security and connect people to the supporting resources they need to thrive. Supporting Canny’s campaign will directly impact the Vashon Food Bank’s current needs and future expansion.
